FELLOW

Finally, here is the answer on some of your questions about the previous post and photography with the old man.
He didn't pray and he wasn't alone. He was with his faithful companion mule. Every afternoon they are walking together near the building where I live. Usually, the mule grazing grass and the old man sitting under some shade. Unfortunately, that afternoon, at the moment when I saw them, they were away from each other and I couldn't catch them in the same cadre. I know, I know, it would be wonderful photography, they both together, but ... maybe another time, another afternoon ...
Some of you will wonder how it is possible to keep this animal in the city. Well ... in my city have many contrasts. For example I'll give you my apartment. There are two balconies. On balcony on one side I can see and hear the big city bustle. But  on the balcony on the other side of the apartment I can hear and see birds, roosters, chickens, cows, goats, cats, dogs ... A real little village :) And this side I like much more than the other.

  18. I agree with EG. I think I'd prefer this view from the balcony on this side of your apartment building. The late afternoon sun gave you lovely warm light and long shadows. Nice story of the old man and his mule.

  19. We all think of a mule as being a difficult creature with a bad attitude. Yet the owner, and the mule, communicate as one. Thus, the mule will bend to his master's wishes. But not for anyone else. Such a magnificent animal!

  20. What a delightful story! I think I would appreciate the "rooster" side of your balcony too!

    IF SHADOWS

    If shadows could jump,
    How high would they go?
    As high as the moon?
    Does anyone know?

    If shadows could weep,
    How long would they cry?
    As long as it takes
    To climb to the sky?

    If shadows could laugh
    And tell funny jokes
    Would you take them home
    And say, “Get this, folks!”?

    If shadows could wed,
    Would they prefer you
    Or somebody else
    To promise, “I do”?

  79. Great shots of the mule and it's interesting how your city has such a mix. I remember as a child there were people who kept horses in residential sections in my city because those people had a lot more land than the average lot. The city passed a law prohibiting people from keeping horses or ponies within the city limits. It was sad because an older couple had kept a pony for a very long time that not only their grandchildren enjoyed but they let neighborhood children ride. After the city ordinance they couldn't keep it because they couldn't afford to board it in one of the stables outside the city limits.
